MOLDRISE is a recently released first person horror game developed by solo indie developer Raffaele Picca. Since its release on July 20, 2026, it has received positive reviews from those who have played it.
This game places you in an apartment building that is less than normal. It’s a dark and dingy place, seemingly deteriorating before your very eyes. Leaving it is not an option, in fact, the only option is to go up. This is not because you’re physically trapped in the building, but because you have an infection in your foot that is forcing you to keep climbing the staircases you come across.
The mysterious infection craves altitude, holding you prisoner in your own body as your foot trudges on with its own motive. Your bodily needs like water, food, and rest don’t matter to the infection, either; “The foot keeps climbing. The rest of you is just trying to keep up.”
Despite its appearance, the apartment building itself is not haunted. There are no monsters lurking around corners, just your neighbors. On each floor, there are residents who have strange requests and ask for random objects. Some want junk, food, or even ask for you to do something humiliating to another neighbor. The only thing a few of these tenants have in common is that they know something they shouldn’t, something they are unaware of each other knowing. You’re simply there to collect the pieces of information they share with you.
This is a game you can return to and should after completing it for the first time. While the neighbors and the building stays the same upon each playthrough, you as the player change. You are armed with new knowledge, you know where items are and can offer tenants better items to make your trades more useful. You will find new passages, shortcuts, and items that you come across early on that you didn’t know mattered can be put to use now.
