inXile Entertainment Reveals Shapeshifter Games Is Helping Develop Clockwork Revolution

As development for inXile Entertainment next game continues, the studio recently revealed the identity of another studio helping get the game to it’s release. According to the Tuesday announcement Shapeshifter Games, new studio made up of developers from the now defunct Volition Games, has assisted in the development of Clockwork Revolution.

Apparently, inXile was able to secure a partnership with Shapshifter thanks to the studios long history with Volition, dating all the way back into the 1990s.

inXile Studio Head Brian Fargo and  President Chris Keenan both shared their thoughts on Shapshifter’s involvement with the development of Clockwork Revolution and their happiness to have them on board with their studio.

“One of the first games I tested in my career was Descent, so I have a special place in my heart for the Parallax/Volition team and history,” said Keenan.

“First priority was ensuring these folks had a place to land on Clockwork Revolution, and we’re thankful we were able to get it done so quickly. Bringing in new development partners can be challenging, but this was a rare partnership that felt right from the beginning.”

Additionally, Shapeshifter Games Studio Head Matt Madigan shared his equally positive thoughts on the partnership, adding that he was  “truly grateful” towards inXile and Microsoft for the opportunity to help development Clockwork Revolution.

Clockwork Revolution was first announced in July 2023. This first-person action steampunk RPG sets players in the mysterious metropolis Avalon, as they traverse through a time-bending narrative that could affect it’s characters in radically different ways.

While the release date is currently determined, Clockwork Revolution is set to release on the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
