Insert Awful Pun Here: Flockers Comes To PS4 September 23rd

With a name far too word-play friendly for anyone’s good, Flockers brings Lemmings-style puzzle action, with Team 17’s typical unique twist, to the PS4 on September 23rd.

Oh, there’s no WAY this could end badly….

Ask most gamers familiar with the Worms series what they think of when they remember the game and there are a handful of weapons that always stand out: the holy hand grenade, the poke, and carpet bombs are often-cited favorites, but along with them is the humble yet ever-so-destructive sheep. Now, Team 17 are bringing the sheep to the forefront in their latest release, Flockers. Tired of being weaponized, the sheep are doing their best to escape their confines, and it is your job to help their progress. Or, you know, murder them in as many gory ways as you can. Your choice, really.

At its heart Flockers is a puzzle game built in the same vein as classics such as Lemmings or The Humans. You are given a certain number of tools and a certain number of sheep in a level filled with a daunting variety of death traps, precipices, and just generally hurty-things. Your goal is to get as many of your charges to the exit as possible with what you have available.

This is where Flockers changes things up a bit.

Most games built on this concept will require you to save X number of your individuals or fail the level. Flockers keeps this simple: all you have to save on any level is one sheep. Just one. Everything else is bonus points, or, as the case may be, cannon fodder. Rarely will a game so fully embrace the typical gamer’s curiosity for the various ways their characters can die in-game, but Flockers does so gleefully. You can practically see the designers cackling evilly and rubbing their hands together as each lamb runs to the slaughter and dies in a unique and gruesome way, all within a universe that carries many of the familiar visual trappings and stylings of the Worms games. Team 17 is typically known for fun, albeit quirky, releases, and Flockers looks like it won’t disappoint in that regard.

And all of this is coming to the PS4 September 23rd.

While not an exclusive (the game is also available in early access form on Steam,) having a unique, creative puzzler like Flockers in the PS4 library is just one more bonus to Sony’s latest system.
