While there has been no official word yet from Netherrealm studios or Warner Bros. games, it’s safe to say at this point that Injustice 2, the sequel to the 2013 DC Comics fighting, is happening. According to Polygon, a letter sent to Gamestop managers showed a promotional poster for Injustice 2 that is included when you pre-order the game. The poster shows Batman fighting Flash with the tagline “Every Battle Defines You.”
While we have no official announcement, Mortal Kombat Co-Creator Ed Boon recently changed his twitter profile picture to a 2 and his header image to a drumroll.

I think it’s safe to say that Injustice 2 is going to happen and that it will be officially announced at E3 next week. The last three games Netherrealm Studios released were Mortal Kombat XL, Mortal Kombat X, and Injustice: Ultimate Edition, all of which were released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Again we have no official word, but it would be safe to say that Injustice 2 would be released for current-gen consoles.
It’s interesting that Injustice 2 might be announced during the same year as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This was probably done intentionally, as DC is trying to build up hype for their movies, comics, and games. But while Batman v Superman was disliked by critics and audiences, Injustice: Gods Among Us was very well received, as was Batman: Arkham Knight. It looks like DC is doing well with their video games, now if they could only get an Open-World Superman game going.
