Information Regarding NBA 2k21’s Mamba Forever Edition Released

With the anticipation of next-gen consoles stirring a buzz with fans, 2K Sports has recently revealed that NBA 2k21 will be released on September 4th for PlayStation, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Both of these are available in the physical and digital formats.

At the time of this release, the standard edition for NBA 2k21 will retail for $70 USD ($10 USD more than the original cost of newly released PS4 games). Pre-orders for 2k21 are set to go live soon (with no actual date being recorded at this time) and be available on all platforms. As it goes, the current prices for each of the editions go:

  • Damian Lillard (current generation standard edition)- $60 USD
  • Zion Williamson (next generation standard edition)- $70 USD
  • Kobe Bryant (Mamba Forever Edition for both generations)- $100 USD

With the new generation games, some of the key progress points for campaign mode will be transferred over. So far there are only reports of MyTeam, the card-collecting online mode, along with whatever amount is in the player’s virtual currency are the only ones being transferred over. At the same time, players will not be able to upgrade their copies of 2k21 unless they have the Mamba Forever edition already purchased and installed. As it goes, the date for the game on current generation consoles will go live sometime in September (no specific date given), while the next-generation version will release some time in November.

Along with pre-ordering the game, players will also get the following bonuses on their current editions (or standard editions) added to their game files upon installation: 5,000 Virtual Currency, 5,000 MyTeam Points, 6 MyCareer Skill Boosts, 10 MyTeam Promo Packs (one gained every week), Damian Lillard Digital Collection, 5 pairs of MyCareer Shoe Collection, and 3 MyCareer Gatorade Boosts.

For those that choose to pre-order the Mamba Forever edition, the following bonuses are added onto their games: 100,000 Virtual Currency, 10,000 MyTeam Points, 10 MyTeam Tokens, 60 MyCareer Skill Boosts, 30 MyCareer Gatorade Boosts, 40 MyTeam Promo Packs (10 at the initial launch and then three given every week), Sapphire Damian Lillard and Zion Williamson MyTeam Cards, MyPlayer Shoe Collection, MyPlayer backpack, and the Kobe Bryant Digital Collection. As this is not the first time 2K sports honored the late Kobe Bryant since his passing, the box art for the current-gen version is a painting (rather than the usual in-person picture for the other versions) that shows Bryant wearing his #8 jersey as he dunks. For the next-gen, the box art features a picture of Bryant wearing his #24 jersey as he waves goodbye to a crowd.

Pre-orders are available on Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and the Official 2K Store. For Digital games, pre-orders are available on the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store.
