Developer Inside Out Games may have the next great, must-play 2d platformer. Their game, Negative_Space was at IndieCade 2019, and I had the opportunity to go hands-on with the game. It may seem very simple, but there is more to the game than you may think.
Negative_Space puts players in the role of a sentient cube that sets out to explore the world. However, to escape the seemingly impossible obstacles in your path, players will have to switch the world, inverting it from black to white and vice versa. That is the main gameplay mechanic of the game. Doing so allows you to traverse the obstacles and reach the end of the room that you have to move past. This being a platform, it’s not quite as simple as that as precision platforming and well-executed timing is needed in conjunction with switching the world between white and black.
Negative_Space has a planned release date of 2019 and it will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For more impressions of games at IndieCade 2019, check out Lineweight, Neo Cab, Bloodroots, Skate & Date, Voronoi Voyager and We Should Talk.
