For those of you unaware, a horror game called MiSide by AIHASTO has taken the indie game side of the internet by storm the past few weeks. As of today, according to Steamcharts, it has officially reached a peak of 21,450 players, an insane amount of players for an indie game especially one that was created by two poor Russian developers.
MiSide is a horror game about a relatively normal guy who gets trapped inside a game with a lot of cute girl elements hearkening to anime dating sims, and of course there’s something sinister lurking behind the scenes. A lot of comparisons have been made to fellow indie dating sim horror game Doki Doki Literature Club by Team Salvato and the indie horror phenomenon from earlier in the year Mouthwashing by Wrong Organ, though MiSide stands out from these comparisons by having a surprising amount of variety in the gameplay in the form of minigames and several unique interactive elements. Again, genuinely really impressive for a team of two Russian developers.
This kind of creativity from such a small team is nothing short of miraculous, and hopefully this success (both in America and apparently in Japan too) is able to propel the careers of the AIHASTO team to even further heights. There are apparently plans to add more content to MiSide eventually, which many players who fell in love with the crazy yet cozy nightmare world have expressed a desire for, though there’s no solid window for when those updates will come.
As it so happens, it’s the perfect time to buy and play MiSide should you find yourself interested in experiencing this game for yourself, as it’s currently on sale due to the Steam Winter Sale here, and keep an ear to the ground in case of any updates that may add content.
