According to an accidental early listing on the Microsoft Store and Amazon Prime, Ubisoft’s Greek mythology-inspired Immortals: Fenyx Rising will be releasing in December of this year. While the store listing has since been taken down, a number of new screenshots and information about the game has been leaked. An official synopsis for the game was also available during the game’s shortlisting life on the Microsoft Store, including details about the main character. Starring the demigod Fenix, players will need to save the ancient Greek gods from an impending danger.
Fenix will be able to utilize the powers of gods that he has rescued, earning special abilities that will allow him to fly, use telekinesis or shoot homing light arrows to defeat enemies. Players will be able to explore the seven different major areas of the game as they travel, each based on a separate god of the ancient Greek mythos. The deleted store page detailed a bit more about the game, “play as Fenyx, on a quest to save the Greek gods from a dark curse. Wield the powers of the gods to battle powerful mythological beasts in the air or on the ground, and solve ancient puzzles. The fate of the world is at stake – you are the gods’ last hope.”
The team behind Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Ubisoft Quebec, also announced that there would be a special Ubisoft Forward event on the 10th where more information about the game would be revealed. The announcement also included an official name change for the game, moving from its original title Gods and Monsters to the new Immortals: Fenyx Rising title. The forward event will include an official “full” reveal of the game with a new trailer and video reveal. Despite its delay from 2019 and name change, Immortals: Fenyx Rising appears to be in the final stages of its development, as it will hopefully be releasing on December 3rd of this year for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Google Stadia systems.
