ID@Xbox Title Sixty Second Shooter Prime Released

Sixty Second Shooter Prime, a game that will surely appeal to today’s ADD generation, was released today exclusively for the Xbox One via ID@Xbox.

Developed by Jamie Fristrom, a veteran game developer with 20 years of experience, SSSP is an indie twin-stick shooter that is also the sixth game to be released via ID@Xbox, a program that allows indie developers to self-publish their games for the Xbox One with relative ease.

The concept of SSSP is rather simple. You have only one life and sixty seconds to rack up as high of a score as you possibly can.

In spite of this minimal gameplay concept, the game actually possesses quite a bit of depth that requires the player to make crucial strategic choices. The game world has sections that have tougher enemies but more lucrative rewards, so it will be up to the player to decide if it is worth the risk.

Players can also rack up hefty combos by waiting for enemies to accumulate in a cluster before annihilating them with ease or taking advantage of slow motion chain reactions to get to huge score multipliers.

The game is designed to be appealing to both beginners and hardcore players. Beginners can play at a difficulty that gradually unlocks powerups and enemy types to allow for an experience that builds in difficulty in tandem with their skill level. Those seeking a tougher challenge can simply unlock everything from the get go. Finally, those seeking a masochistic experience can activate the game’s infinity mode, in which the game can be theoretically played forever as long as players keep collecting time extension powerups. Fristrom has said that he has only been able to last a few minutes in this mode.

SSSP was originally developed as a Chrome web game, and was later made available for PlayStation Mobile. The Xbox One version comes with a new soundtrack, improved visuals, and social leaderboards, along with afore the mentioned Infinity mode.

Developer Jamie Fristrom has previously worked as a designer for the Spider Man 2 game, as well as Tony Hawk for the Dreamcast and Die by the Sword for the PC, among others.
