Xbox and IGN returned yesterday, October 28, with their latest ID@Xbox showcase, revealing world premiere titles, release dates, gameplay footage, and updates from the slew of independent developers working on games for Xbox platforms. Though titles varied vastly in genre from boomer shooter to visual novel, social hub, simulator, roguelike, and horror, this showcase held a particular focus on Xbox’s upcoming independent horror and thrilling action adventure titles. All that being said, here is a rundown of everything that was presented at the ID@Xbox Showcase – October 2025.
33 Immortals, the coop action roguelike that sees up to 33 players fend off gigantic bosses, received an update, the Pride and Temperance Update, which introduces two new weapons: the Crossbow of Pride and the Glaive of Temperance. Offering new approaches to combat with all new systems such as Ordeals, armor breaks, chamber objectives, and more, you and your friends can join the rebellion to face the Wrath of God in all new ways.
Agni: Village of Calamity is the first of the indie horror titles present in yesterday’s showcase, which sees you step into the shoes of Agni, an Indonesian covert police officer whose gone against her directive. Despite the ominous warnings surrounding a remote village, she will have to survive the Indonesian folklore-inspired horrors that lurk throughout this haunted village of calamity.
Aphelion is an upcoming sci-fi action/adventure narrative that sees the crash landing of two astronauts on an uncharted planet. You will have to survive, utilizing stealth to your advantage to survey the environment, all while an ominous, hostile life force looms overhead.
Awaysis is a colorful and fast-paced upcoming physics-based dungeon brawler releasing to Xbox services in 2026. You play as a little fox creature wielding a sword the size of your body, so swinging it around is a bit of a task. You can use your environment to your advantage for fluid platforming sections, as trailer footage displays satisfying hill sliding physics.
Darkwood 2 is the upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed 2014 horror title Darkwood. The sequel is described as a stand-alone story, meaning that gamers unfamiliar with the series don’t have to worry about playing the original to jump right into the terrifying world that its sequel presents. This is thanks to the brand new story, cast of characters, and environment present in Darkwood 2, which sees you traverse the vast and hostile environment of a scorched desert by day, gathering survival materials before you take shelter for the night, praying once again for the morning light.
DayZ Badlands is an upcoming expansion that sports the description of the “largest official map to date.” Players will find themselves in the scorching desert region of Nasdara, facing resource scarcity and ever-present conflict, not to mention the constant onslaught afforded by the infected.
The fan favorite roguelike mining game from Raw Fury, Dome Keeper, will be released to all Xbox services on December 9. Players will traverse through procedurally generated underground environments, digging tunnels through the depths under their dome homebase in expeditions to uncover the caves and hidden gadgets that lurk in plain sight. Don’t get too carried away mining, however, as soon monsters will begin attacking your dome from the surface.
Don’t Fret is an upcoming mascot horror adventure blending music with themes of horror in a story where you take on the role of a walking, talking cartoon guitar named Fret. Musical puzzles abound, sound itself will be utilized as both a weapon against your foes and torment actively working against you. The ID@Xbox Showcase premiered Don’t Fret’s voice cast of worldwide YouTube talent, including Amanda Hufford (The Amazing Digital Circus) and CG5.
Egging On is an upcoming Bennet Foddy-inspired physics-based platformer where the player takes on the role of a fragile, unhatched chicken egg. You will have to roll, jump, and try your best not to crack on your long and seemingly endless journey up to the sky. With hidden shortcuts abound and brutal challenges afoot, Egging On plans for release to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, November 6.
The upcoming 3v3 tag fighter, Invincible VS, received some new gameplay footage showcasing two new playable characters, Robot, the supergenius drone turned human, and Monster Girl, the girl who can transform into a hulking abomination while each use simultaneously ages her in reverse. These two newcomers, being a zoner and a grappler respectively, fighting game and comic book fans will be excited at the announcement that Invincible VS will be hosting a closed alpha between November 21 and 24, which gamers can apply to join here. Invincible VS is planned for release to all Xbox services in 2026.
The upcoming beautifully 3D animated isometric survival game, Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road received its planned release date of November 20. Players will have to gather resources, build shelter, and fend off hordes of shadowed monsters in a world on the brink of collapse. Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road will be released to all Xbox services.
Mouse: P.I. For Hire is an upcoming boomer shooter from developer Fumi Games whose art direction blends inspiration from the likes of classic ‘30s cartoon rubber hose style animation and ‘50s noir themes of seedy crime organisation. In a world filled with rodents of all types, Private Investigator will have to unravel a story involving murder and kidnapping. Over the Hill is an upcoming 2026 release for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox for PC. In this off-roading exploration adventure, you can experience a look back at the golden age of off-roading while driving iconic 4×4 vehicles from the ‘60s to the ‘80s.
Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf, the sequel in the Planet of Lana space opera series, received an extended gameplay demo trailer with commentary from the game’s developers. This beautifully expressive 2.5D animated adventure, Lana and her robot companion, Mui, traverse several biomes, completing next-level challenging puzzles on an adventure to fight for Novo, their home world. Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf will be released in 2026 on Xbox Game Pass day one.
The showcase saw a world-first look at Puppergeist, an upcoming rhythm game/visual novel hybrid that follows the adventure of a young witch named Claire on her journey into the Doggie Underworld to find her dog. Players will meet a host of charming pups who will aid them on their quest for Claire’s dog, once they first help in solving their own issues through rhythm-based mini-games. Puppergeist releases to Xbox X|S and Xbox for PC in 2026.
Routine is an upcoming sci-fi horror based on an ‘80s vision of the future, set on an abandoned lunar base. Players will explore the vast and unnerving environment of the base, traversing deteriorating living quarters and malls as they attempt to figure out what exactly happened to its inhabitants before their arrival. The game’s grainy, “found footage” point of view gives the environment a twisted and life-like quality reminiscent of the classic 1999 film, The Blair Witch Project, and several independently made analog horror series’ online that fans of horror will find truly terrifying. Routine releases for all Xbox services on December 4.
Sledding Game is exactly what the name entails. Being a simple premise, you and many friends can hang out on the slopes of a scenic, snow-covered mountain as silly-looking frog characters. While sledding and trying not to wipe out with the game’s physics-based ragdoll system are the main draws of Sledding Game, a whole slew of interactive minigames are available around the mountain. To name a few, players can engage in snowball fights, fishing, darts, curling, and sipping hot cocoa by a fire with friends. Sledding Game is planned for day one release to Xbox Game Pass for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox for PC.
Superball is an upcoming futuristic 3v3 ball sport game that blends the character-specific ability elements of hero shooters with the fast-paced offensive and defensive team play aspects of a ball sport. Marketed as a great game for streaming, hype plays, and team synergy in tandem with careful player customization will be at the heart of Superball’s game plan. The game was released on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox for PC yesterday, October 28, alongside the game showcase.
Task Time is yet another upcoming 8-player online friendslop party game inspired by game shows. Players will be pitted against one another in 6 rounds of zany and unpredictable physics-based puzzles and tasks. Task Time will be released soon on Xbox on PC.
TCG Card Shop Simulator sees players take on the role of card shop owners as they manage the operation of their very own virtual card shop. Stocking shelves with merchandise will be a solo endeavor early on, but as you bring in more money from card sales, new hires will be able to take care of the heavy lifting for you. The choice between selling the booster packs on your shelves and simply opening the packs for yourself is a difficult one, but one that TCG Card Shop Simulator leaves the player with intentionally. Knowing the temptation will eventually wear you thin enough that you give in and selfishly open a virtual trading card for the first time. TCG Card Shop Simulator is planned for release to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC early 2026.
UnGodly is an upcoming dark fantasy RPG that premiered for the first time during yesterday’s showcase, detailing its innovative Affinity system and simple gameplay footage showing off the game’s multiple playable character swapping system.
The final title detailed in the ID@Xbox Showcase was Vampire Survivors: Ante Chamber, an upcoming free DLC for the critically acclaimed dungeon-crawling roguelike, Vampire Survivors. Fans of the roguelike playing card game, Balatro, will be excited at the announcement of this free DLC, which sees the player join forces with Jimbo and a cast of wild cards through the endless adventure of massive multiplier-hitting bullet hell action. In tandem with the announcement of the Ante Chamber DLC, Vampire Survivors received two more free content updates, and one update to the Ode to Castlevania paid DLC.
