Humble Games To Undergo Massive Restructuring

Video game developer Humble Games announced it was to go under massive restructuring on Tuesday. According to Games Industry Biz, it was initially believed that the Ziff Davis owned developer was closing permanently after reports surfaced that all of its employees were laid off suddenly.

Since its formation in 2017, Humble Games released popular Indie games like A Hat in Time, Aegis Defenders, and Unpacking.

That said, the truth of the situation came to light not soon long after through an official a statement by Humble Games. It explained the cause for this restructuring, which was caused due to the negative economic circumstances that had hit the studio in the past year.

“In these challenging economic times for indie game publishing, Humble Games has made the difficult but necessary decision to restructure our operations. This decision was not made lightly; it involved much deliberation and careful thought, with the goal of ensuring the stability and support of our developers and ongoing projects. Additionally, the restructuring of operations at Humble Games will have no impact on operations at Humble Bundle,” read the statement.

“We are acutely aware of the profound impact this decision has on our team members at Humble Games and deeply empathize with everyone affected. Our team’s contributions have been world-class and invaluable, supporting the launch of our games since we started publishing in 2017. We are committed to navigating this transition with as much empathy and understanding as possible,” it continued.

While this restructuring will likely impact many of the workers within the studio, the studio claimed that it’s ongoing and future projects would remain unaffected by the changes.
