I love HGTV as much as the next person, but I certainly didn’t expect to see a game entirely about house flipping on the top of Steam’s top seller page.
That is just what has happened for House Flipper, a simulation game all about the art of taking old and dirty houses and remodeling them to sell them for a profit.
House flipping has become a phenomenon over the last decade, landing itself multiple TV shows and tons of entrepreneurs who seem to think it is as easy as they make it look on TV. This seems to be the next step in that phenomenon as lazy gamers like me can get into the house flipping spirit without picking up a hammer.
The premise of the game is in the name. You have to flip houses. This means buying properties then fixing them up and managing your budget so you can sell that house for a profit. Along the way, you’ll have to demolish things you don’t want, repair plumbing and electrical problems, and work on the interior design to make the house as appealing as possible.
The gameplay is simple, but it looks accessible and fun. Check out the trailer below:
It looks cute enough, but it isn’t exactly a game I would have seen gaining the kind of mass popularity it seems to be gaining. Youtubers are playing it, and one video in particular has upwards of 500,000 views. There are also quite few people streaming House Flipper on Twitch right now.
The developers have even dropped a free DLC called Apocalypse Flipper. Players can add bunkers and safe rooms and have several new appraisers to please.
House Flipper is available now on Steam (and it is on sale on until March 24). Grab your hammer and your hard hat and get to work.
