With Horizon Zero Dawn just a little two weeks out of the gate, reviews have been pouring in for the futuristic, post apocalyptic, Playstation exclusive. With Guerrilla Games behind the action RPG, most people have found the game to be exactly what they were hoping for.
What sets this game apart from other RPG’s is the fact that while its a post apocalyptic world, it is overrun by cyborg animals. These animals not only attack you, but they also come in many different sizes. With all the trailers there was a bit of hype around the game but after combing through the reviews I think its safe to say that for almost everyone, the game delivered.
Within the top few elite reviewers in the gaming community, it seems as though the greatest thing about Horizon Zero Dawn has been the graphics. The one thing promised by Guerrilla Games was a massive and beautiful landscape for players to explore. GamSpot even went so far as to call it the “one of the best open-world games of this generation”.
The other thing most people have been talking about is the way the combat system is set up and how it keeps the game interesting. Even if some of the encounters seemed familiar, it was still fun and exciting to try new ways to take down an enemy. But one thing that is noted is tat sometime some of the combat actions can be a little bit slow as far as Aloy’s reaction times.

“Horizon Zero Dawn is familiar but also really refreshing. It’s not a short game (I spent around 30 hours with it), but the storytelling still feels concise and efficient. The combat has some nice options that make encounters fun, even when you’re just stacking up stealth kills from the relative safety of a bush. And the presentation end of the game holds up its end of things with a solid soundtrack, great voice acting, and a cohesive design that makes all its disparate parts fit together. All in all, it’s a great game, it’s Guerrilla’s strongest release to date, and I suspect I’ll go back in after the fact to clean up whatever side quests and errands I have remaining, if only to spend a little more time in that world.” – Jeff Gerstmann
