Horizon MMORPG Reportedly In-Development With South Korean Developer NCSoft

Horizon Zero Dawn fans will be eager to know that an MMORPG will reportedly be set within its world, according to South Korean news site MTN (via VGC). The report stated that the Korean game developer NCSoft will be joining the project, the same developers behind popular titles like Guild Wars 2 and Lineage.

It’s said that this project is part of Sony’s active push towards live service games coinciding with Horizon Zero Dawn’s developer’s want to add multiplayer in future titles due to it being scrapped in the initial game. VGC also noted that Horizon Forbidden West, Horizon Zero Dawn’s upcoming sequel, was also planned to incorporate multiplayer, but that was scrapped as well. According to VGC, it was Guerrilla’s decision to push the feature to a future project.

It’s still up in the air what that future project could be though VGC did note that Guerrilla Games upped staffing for an online game last year. They specifically cited two specific job positions, one for a senior social systems designer and a senior game writer. While it is unclear whether or not this upcoming MMORPG is the future title in question, it’s unsurprisingly looking to be a rather large project since its being targeted for the global market. According to the report, NCSoft is currently recruiting developers under the name Project H and the lead developer of Lineage W, Choi Hony-Young, will be leading it.

The Horizon series has wowed audiences with its beautiful visuals and immersive world, so it is unsurprising that an MMORPG would be developed for it. While it is still unknown how exactly the game would play, considering it is in early development, it’s guaranteed to at least give players a fun and bombastic gameplay and visuals; with Guerrilla Games and NCSoft collaborating, players shouldn’t expect any less.

Caitlyn Taylor: New media and entertainment have been apart of my life since I was very young, and I don't think that interest will ever go away. When I'm bored, I immerse myself in lore videos no matter the length.
