Horizon Hunters Gathering, The Long Rumored & Reported Co-Op Game From Guerilla, Officially Announced

We’ve known for a while now that there were several projects in development from PlayStation Studios’ Guerrilla. The one that may have piqued everyone’s interest was what PlayStation and Guerrilla have officially announced and revealed today. Horizon Hunters Gathering is a tactical co-op action game that will let up to three players team up as heroic Hunters to protect a world under threat from deadly machines. The game will be available for PlayStation 5 and PC with support for cross-play between both platforms, and cross-progression when a player is logged in and saves using the same PlayStation account.

Horizon Hunters Gathering will be focused around challenging and replayable hunts that will come in the form of different game modes. Today, Guerrilla unveiled two of the game modes.

Machine Incursion is a high-intensity mission where waves of machines will pour out from underground gateways, led by a formidable boss. Cauldron Descent is a longer, multi-stage trial where players will enter a dungeon with ever-changing rooms that push Hunters to their limits, from brutal machine encounters to hidden doors that promise power and reward for teams prepared to open them.

Players will choose from a roster of uniquely skilled Hunters –  each with distinct melee or ranged playstyles and weapons. In addition, each Hunter can be further customized with select Hunter roles that is further embedded with a rogue-lite perk system that lets players craft the build that best suits their playstyle and team.

Each Hunter will have their own motivations and personal struggles which will come together in new stories that Guerrilla wants to tell in the world of Horizon. The game will have a narrative campaign that will introduce new mysteries, characters, and threats. The story is fully canon and won’t stop at launch.

At launch, four large environments will be available to explore. Each location will have its own atmosphere, challenges, and opportunities for players to explore and master together.

Between missions, Hunters will return to Hunters Gathering: a vibrant social hub where players can connect, prepare, and celebrate victories together. Players can customize their Hunters, visit vendors, upgrade gear, and team up for the next hunt and adventure.

Guerrilla has announced a small scale closed playtest that anyone interested can sign up for via the PlayStation Beta program. All players have to do is mark their interst in any future Horizon Hunters Gathering playtest.
