Horizon Forbidden West Announced As an Exclusive for the PlayStation 5

At long last, Guerrilla Games has pulled back the curtain and unveiled the full-fledged sequel to their critically acclaimed Horizon: Zero Dawn. Announced at the PlayStation 5 Reveal Event, the aptly named Horizon Forbidden West was revealed as an exclusive for the upcoming PlayStation 5. Aloy and the gang are all back, as well as the intricately designed Machines that run rampant all around the world.

The game will pick up right where Horizon Zero Dawn left off, with Aloy heading west to continue searching for clues as to why the world was put through this catastrophe. The trailer, which looked absolutely stunning, gave us a brief glimpse into this new venture, and from what we can see, it’s going to be even bigger, broader, and darker than the previous entry. New elemenents are introduced here such as diving underwater, even bigger machines, and a look into a potential apocalyptic event that Aloy might be attempting to stop.

The trailer starts off with some awe-inspiring shots of the western region, and it’s easy to see just how much work Guerrilla Games has put into this one. Every single view is breathtaking, and it’s also an indication of how it look on the actual PlayStation 5 when it comes out. Eventually we see Aloy beginning her search in the area, which sees her riding on friendly machines across the vast land. Aloy then dives into the water, with a re-breather to boot, and ends up locating what looks to be a city that has been swept into the ocean.

Throughout her search, Aloy sees diagrams, writings, and even holograms coming out of the ground and spinning around her. During all of this, Aloy narrates her desire to stop the incoming danger, which is implied to be another apocalypse. At least she won’t be alone, as her tribe is also shown in the trailer taming and capturing machines in the wild. The final shot shows a massive mammoth machine charging towards Aloy as she readies her bow.

The trailer alone was enough to get us excited for this one, as well as some potential gameplay trailers. Despite this, Gureilla did not give any release timeframe, which means that the game will more than likely not be a launch date for the PlayStation 5. We”re probably looking at a 2021 release, but we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

Horizon Forbidden West will launch exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
