Honkai: Star Rail’s Anniversary not only served to remember their first year, but also is set to push the game forward. The version 2.2 update livestream happened today and gave players a taste of what’s to come. First the codes:
Version 2.2 will serve as the conclusion to the Penacony main story, with an epilogue to follow in version 2.3. This includes a new weekly boss – Harmonious Choir: The Great Septimus, which will be a three phase boss fight. Breaking the boss and its summons seems to be a key strategy for defeating it, especially in its third phase. This phase unleashes defense ignoring attacks, but by breaking its toughness, players are granted a teamwide shield. Luckily this version is providing players two new limited to help us defeat this boss.
First is Robin, a five star physical character following the path of Harmony, meaning she’s a support meant to buff allies. Robin’s skill provides a three turn damage percent buff that is based on robin’s turns, meaning that any actions your other units take in that time will be enhanced. However, the bulk of Robin’s kit is in her ultimate. Upon use all allies are buffed based on a percentage of Robin’s attack stat, and advanced to the top of the action order. In turn Robin enters the ‘Concerto’ state where she begins performing her song. Not one to be left out though, every time an ally attacks Robin will attack as well, contributing to team damage.
Robin is shaping up to be a powerful harmony unit that might be able to act as a sub dps in most team comps as well. Players without a strong harmony roster might enjoy picking her up. Robin’s banner will run alongside Topaz’s rerun banner. Topaz being a fire hunt character focused on follow-up attacks, might be a good pickup for people with Aventurine and their free Dr. Ratio.
On the other hand, Boothill is also a five star physical character but follows the path of the Hunt, a single target focused path. His skill places him and an enemy in a one on one, where they both deal increased damage to each other. Boothill’s basic attack is enhanced in this state, dealing more toughness damage to the enemy’s breakbar based on his talent. Whenever Boothill wins a duel by breaking or defeating an enemy he gains one stack of trickshot, up to a maximum of three per battle. Each increases the toughness damage of his enhanced basic attack. His ultimate implants physical weakness on the enemy, allowing Boothill to be useful against any boss.
Overall Boothill seems to be a dps focused on breaking the enemy for most of his damage. His banner will run alongside Fu Xuan’s rerun banner. Fu Xuan is a quantum character following the path of preservation, meaning she’s a sustainer. While she was and still is a top tier sustainer there are many others who can fill that role such as Aventurine.
Besides the new main story updates, version 2.2 will also have a host of events including one with a limited light cone for all players to pick up. It’s definitely a jam packed update, and should be hitting servers Tuesday, May 7th for those of us on the North America server.
