It’s a big week for Honkai: Star Rail players. The game is currently a little over halfway through its 2.5 update, having released a new character Lingsha last week to make the halfway mark. As such, tradition dictates it is time for drip marketing in the week leading up to the next version livestream, in this case version 2.6, whose live stream will be available on Friday. The theories for who will be drip marketed this week have been rampant, with many leaks claiming that the long anticipated Sunday would be making an appearance, as well as a five star form of Tingyun, a four star who has been part of the game since launch but met a tragic fate in the version 1.2 story quest. Well it seems in this, leakers have been proven right.
Sunday was drip marketed on all official socials, revealing a new outfit compared to his model from the version 2.0 to 2.2 story, and will be entering the game in the first half of version 2.7 as an imaginary type character following the path of Harmony. The first male Harmony character, Sunday has also been highly anticipated. Originally revealed during the version 1.6 live stream, Sunday went on to be a keep player in the main story of versions 2.0 to 2.2, taking a – Spoiler Alert – antagonistic role. However, he seems to be forging a new path if his updated model is anything to go by, possibly by playing an important role in the new story of version 2.6. Sunday’s reveal lends some credence to the leaks surrounding him, which point to him being: a hyper carry support with action advance, a unique mechanic called energy overflow, and the ability to advance other character’s summons, such as Numby for Topaz or Fuyuan for Lingsha. Sunday’s reveal also concludes a longstanding community joke about how long it took to reach this moment.
In a post tonight at 9:00 P.M. PDT, the Honkai: Star Rail official socials did not release the drip marketing for another character, as is tradition provided another is being added to the game. Instead, they informed fans that the new drip marketing would be released on Friday, October 11th. Many feel that this just reconfirms the leaks, and that Tingyun will be the new character, especially considering her ambiguous fate in the story. Whether or not Tingyun will be unveiled on Friday, after the livestream, by then players will know the full banner cycle for 2.6 and can plan their pulls accordingly.
Overall, what comes next from Honkai: Star Rail, is now something people are going to have to wait for a couple of more days to see.
