As the release date draws closer Hogwarts Legacy revealed a new trailer at the Gamescom Opening Night 2022, showcasing a darker look into the game’s story. Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, action, open-world role-playing game set in the 1800’s wizarding world. Beginning as a fifth year, players will embark on a journey through new and familiar locations, explore and discover magical beasts, craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents and customize their character to become the witch or wizard they want to be.
In Hogwarts Legacy‘s newest game-play trailer, fans will finally have a glimpse into some of the narrative aspects of the game, showcasing an optional quest-line called “Sebastian Sallow’s Dark Legacy.” This quest-line follows one of Hogwarts Legacy’s optional companions Sebastian Sallow, diving deep in the history of the Sallow family and the dilemmas that players will encounter if they seek to study the Dark Arts.
Along with the new trailer, the developers also announced what players can expect come the release date. Pre-orders for Hogwarts Legacy start August 25 for pre-order on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles and PC via the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam and Epic Games Store. Nintendo Switch Pre-orders will be announced later this year. Hogwarts Legacy will also have a Deluxe Edition for PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch™ and PC for $69.99 and for PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S for $79.99.
The Deluxe Edition includes 72 hours Early Access to the game starting on February 7, 2023, and the Dark Arts Pack. The Dark Arts Pack provides access to an exclusive wardrobe via the Dark Arts Cosmetic Set, a flying Thestral Mount players can ride, and access to the Dark Arts Battle Arena where players can test their mastery of the Dark Arts against waves of challenging enemies. There will also be a Digital Deluxe Edition for all platforms with the same included content, the Dark Arts Garrison Hat, and a cross-gen digital upgrade for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.
Finally, a Collector’s Edition will be available for all platforms except Nintendo Switch. This includes the Deluxe Edition content, Dark Arts Garrison Hat, as well as a physical Life-Size Floating Ancient Magic Wand with Book Base, Steel Case, and in-game Kelpie Robe.
Hogwarts Legacy will release worldwide on February 10, 2023 for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The Nintendo Switch release dates are still unknown but will likely be confirmed sometime in the future.
