In 2023 Hogwarts Legacy sold over 22 million copies. This number was confirmed by David Haddad the president of Interactive Entertainment in an interview with Variety. According to Variety, “during the holiday season, 2 million units were sold.”
Hogwarts Legacy was released in Early 2023 on platforms such as PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows, and later on, it came out on other platforms like PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. David Haddad said to Variety in his interview that,
It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story. And that’s what the team at Avalanche set out to do when they were developing the game and I think that’s really why it resonated so well and remains the best-selling game of the year in the entire industry worldwide. That’s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent’s sequel games and we’re so proud that we’ve been able to break into the top ranks
According to Variety Hogwarts Legacy gained about “707 million hours played”. From the moment that Hogwarts Legacy was released, it has taken the gaming world by storm. Hogwarts Legacy also landed on Steam’s Best Of 2023 list in the Platinum category. According to Haddad “players have gone back and replayed Hogwarts Legacy trying out the different Hogwarts houses” that come with their “own storyline in the game”.
And even though Quidditch was left out of Hogwarts Legacy players will still get a chance to play Quidditch in another Potterverse game. However, it’s unknown when the Quidditch game will be coming to players at the moment. Haddad said that the Quidditch “Potterverse game is in the Beta-testing phase” at this present time.
Players just can’t get enough of Hogwarts Legacy since its release in 2023. Hogwart Legacy continues to prove every day why players love this game and why it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
