We may have just entered the new year but one of the first major releases of 2021 is only few weeks away. Hitman III is scheduled to release on January 20, and just in the nick of time, we finally get to see some concrete stealth gameplay. Game Informer has just uploaded the gameplay video, which consists of the first five minutes of the opening mission in Dubai. IO Interactive’s famous franchise has always been about introducing several opportunities to advance on Agent 47’s target, and this intro video is the best way to see how it works in Hitman III.
The mission, which is appropriately titled On Top of the World, takes place in Dubai, the most well known metropolis in the United Arab Emirates. IO Interactive took full advantage here though, as the mission actually takes place at the Burj Al-Ghazali, which is based off of worlds tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, a skyscraper that stands at 160 stories. It starts off just like every single Hitman mission, with a small but informative narrative by Diana Burnwood, who is Agent 47’s personal handler. Following the story line of the previous two entries, the main targets are agents of the clandestine group known as Providence.
Perhaps to emphasize the gravity of how big this thing is, the mission has Agent 47 starting on the outside of the building, walking along the support beams whilst looking for an entrance. IO Interactive does an amazing job showcasing the complete stealth aspect here, as we normally start off missions by either already being inside, or just outside a perimeter looking for a way in. 47 does eventually make his way to a safe area and quickly changes his disguise, another staple of the franchise, in order to blend in with the crowd.
The remainder of the video shows 47 walking around looking for different chances to locate his targets, while also taking in the very rich and powerful lifestyle by those who congregate at the Burj Al-Ghazali enjoy each and every day. As we already mentioned, this video shows us the first five minutes of the opening mission. In a normal scenario, a lot of players won’t come in guns blazing, especially in a 160 floor skyscraper where things can go sideways. Instead, this gameplay shows us just how subtle the beginning of a mission usually is, and why Agent 47 is a master assassins. We imagine that once the players do locate your targets, the execution methods will be entirely up to their discretion.
Hitman III will officially launch on Janurary 20 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, Nintendo Switch and PC through the Epic Games Store and Google’s Stadia.
