As the final game announcement at The Game Awards 2025, Wildlight Entertainment showed off their new innovative shooter, Highguard. To the surprise of many fans, the studio was developed in secret in 2021 with developers who had worked on Apex Legends and Titanfall. The trailer immediately opens with action as the narrating character summons a horse and engages enemies while shooting from its back. From there, the gameplay launches into a frenzy as characters switch between classic shooter combat, melee attacks, and devastating abilities.

The trailer also lays out unique objectives, such as a sword in a stone to be fought over and an important area that, when captured, creates a battering ram known as the Shieldbreaker to destroy the defenses of the enemy base. The trailer ends with the narrator declaring himself to be a Warden, and the reveal that the game will be available to play for free on January 26th, 2026.
