Back in August, Herobeat Studios unveiled that demo for a new game called Endling: Extinction is Forever was almost ready. Two days ago, Herobeat Studios released a new trailer for the game. The trailer did not reveal much beyond how ravaged the land truly is due to human actions. Endling is a story about one of the biggest problems our planet is facing, the increased extinction rate of animals. In a recent study by the IUCN, around 27% of all the animal species on our planet are threatened with irreversible extinction. Endling:Extinction is Forever takes that study and applies it to the cute and crafty fox.
Endling: Extinction is Forever is a 3D side-scrolling world in which the player must traverse a dangerous land in order to survive. The story of Endling focuses on a vixen and her three kits as they attempt to traverse a world ravaged by human greed in order to survive as the last foxes on earth. The Herobeats Studio website states, “Discover the destructive force of the human race, as it corrupts, pollutes and exploits the most precious and valuable resources of the natural environments day by day.” Players will have to traverse a dangerous world where the enemy is mankind in search of a safe haven. Players will also have to travel into the wilderness in search of food for their family while avoiding becoming prey in order to survive.
The game will include a day and night cycle in which players rest during the day and travel under the cover of night. Endling: Extinction is Forever will also confront players with serious choices that they will have to make to ensure the survival of their kits. The game will also feature locations based on current issues. Endling: Extinction is Forever will also feature a level-up system in which your kits will grow up and learn new skills to help the player on their journey. Endling: Extinction is Forever will also feature perma-death so all decisions players make will have a lasting effect on their playthrough. The end goal of the game is to find a safe haven where humans cannot bother them. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on Steam. There is currently no known release date for the game, however, the Steam Store page states that the studio intends to release Endling: Extinction if Forever sometime in 2021.
