Helldivers 2 is one of the biggest gifts of this year so far and it looks like its only gaining momentum. The developers over at Arrowhead games Studio have been hard at work at sending out constant updates fixing matchmaking and server issues and even including brand new in game events that is sure to give players further motivation. The player count of the game has been slowly but surely rising ever since launch, with the title actually reaching a new peak of concurrent players on steam, that being over 250,000 players. This does prove that the live service genre can work, if it’s done with actual passion. While the game does feature some slight micro transactions, the great thing about the title that the rest of the industry should return to is that the currency in which you can pay for, can also be attained naturally by actually playing the game. All of these additions including a near perfect replayability cycle, amazing gameplay, and worldwide co-op truly showcases just how much of a marvel Helldivers 2 really is.
Arrowhead studios have delivered on an incredible user experience and are continuously backing up their promises. The galaxy map of the game will show what sectors are currently occupied by enemy forces, that of which could be Terminids or Automatons. Its not just base map that once completed recycles, it actually evolves as players impact the galaxy and when said enemy forces plan surprise invasions. In fact one of surprise invasions happened today as earlier Arrowhead studios assembled a call to arms pleading all Helldivers to join the fight against a surprise Automaton invasion of certain super Earth sectors. This actually happened in game where players are currently pushing back the enemy offense further emphasizing this living world feel in the game.
If the team at Arrowhead continues delivering these events and keeps players attention, Helldivers 2 could potentially be a revolutionary game for the industry, with hopefully many more major studios attempting to emulate their success.
