Helldivers 2 took the gaming world by storm in 2024, and despite a brief stint of controversy with publisher Sony Interactive that tanked its review scores, has remained a powerhouse of multiplayer co-op fun thanks to the continued major updates and content additions from developer Arrowhead Game Studios. Last year, players were treated with the unique city-defending missions of the Heart of Democracy update as well as the putrid bug nests of the Into the Unjust update, the first piece of fresh content for 2026 is the launch of a new Warbond, Redacted Regiment, which is set to release on January 20th. Warbonds, for those unfamiliar, are the modular, non-time constrained battlepasses of Helldivers 2 that contain new cosmetics, weapons, and other gameplay items. They are unlockable without the use of real-world cash, albeit with a bit of grinding, but for those interested in immediate purchase that option remains open as well.

Redacted Regiment is themed around black-ops, cover ups, and all tactical things that go bump in the night. In line with the game’s jingoist pastiche, the new items and cosmetics added here are geared toward players who prefer the stealthy approach to missions, though that’s not to say there’s nothing that explodes in this update. What good would a Helldiver be without one highly-lethal piece of explosive ordnance? Anyhow, there’s two armor sets: Shadow Paragon, a light set that looks similar to SWAT gear; and Null Cipher, a medium set which bears resemblance to the eerie angled alien architecture of contemporary stealth bomber planes. Both sets come with a passive that makes it harder for enemies to see and hear you, so the choice of which to wear is one of cosmetic and mobility preference.

The two new primary weapons that have been added: the longer-range precision-oriented R-72 Censor and the full-auto assault rifle AR-59 Suppressor, which are–could you guess it–both fitted with suppressors that reduce the range that enemies can detect you on the map. The secondary they’ve added, the P-35 Re-Educator (come on, that’s a good one) doesn’t fire traditional ammunition, but rather a dart filled with a substance that leaves enemies dazed and confused on impact.
Additionally, there’s that piece of explosive equipment mentioned earlier: a new Strategem called the B/MD C4 Pack. Which does almost exactly what you would think, allowing you to carry around what looks to be six packs of sticky bombs that you can throw onto or near the enemies of democracy and detonate at your will. Set-up ambushes, defensive perimeters, or treat it like a grenade, the choice is yours. With the new throwable, the TM-01 Lure Mine, you could even bait things into a sneaky little trap of these if you like. There’s also a new booster they’ve added, Concealed Insertion, which deploys a smoke screen upon Hellpod landing. Perhaps that would prove useful for reinforcement during a heated firefight.

Lastly, there’s two new capes and their corresponding player banners, Triangulation Veil and Pillar of The Abyss, as well as a kneeling victory pose called Target Sighted and a Player Title that reads [REDACTED]. No really, that’s what it says, I’m not censoring it.
