Blizzard has been teasing for a while now that they have an announcement for their digital card game Hearthstone. The company finally let the cat out of the bag with a huge reveal, the game’s next expansion is on the way. Dubbed Ashes of Outland, the setting will take place in the wild and dangerous Outland, where the legendary World of Warcraft expansion Burning Crusade took place. Players will be getting their hands on this very soon, as it launches on April 7, just a few weeks away.
Ashes of Outland is another big event in the Year of the Phoenix and brings in 135 new cards, all fel-infused, and a few new features and mechanics. This includes Primes, which are minions that are reshuffled into player’s decks and become more powerful after leaving the board. Another one is called Imprisoned Demons, which aren’t terribly strong in the early game but can unleash mach-changing effects when it matters most.
As if this wasn’t enough, the company had yet another big reveal for everyone. On the same day the expansion is released, it will include a brand new class, the Demon Hunter. This will be the first new class for Hearthstone since the game launched back in 2014. According to Blizzard, the Demon Hunter “features an in-your-face playstyle” as they are mostly known for their ferocity and viciousness.
To sweeten the deal, Blizzard is releasing a special campaign for the Demon Hunter starting April 2. All you need to do is complete the Demon Hunter Prologue Campaign which has four story missions that pertain to the origin story of perhaps the most famous, and infamous, Demon Hunter in history; Illidan Stormrage. Complete this task and the new class will be yours for free when Hearthstone Ashes of Outland launches.
On top of getting a sweet new class, you’ll also gain access to all 10 basic Demon Hunter Cards, a 20 card Demon Hunter Initiate Set, and finally a pre-built decklist as long as you have an open deck slot. As we stated already, the Demon Hunter unlocks when the new expansion launches. The prologue missions will only last a few days, so if you want to get your hands on the Demon Hunter, make sure you complete them in time.
Hearthstone Ashes of Outland officially launches on April 7 for PC through Battle.net, and iOS and Android devices.
