Hearthstone’s Curse of Naxxramas DLC Release To Players

Blizzard’s first expansion to their collectible card game, Hearthstone, was released this past Tuesday, Curse of Naxxramas is now live on iPad, PC and Mac. The single player mode of the game launched one of the five wings for Naxxramas, which was Arachnid Quarters and was made free during the launch of the event, for at least a month or so this will go on.

As mentioned in our previous article, players will face against three new opponents in the Arachnid Quarters, which includes the Spider Lord Anub’Rekhan, Grand Widow Faerlina, and the wing boss Maexxna the spider queen. Players receive new cards when you defeat each enemy, and when you defeat the final boss in this wing, you will get to unlock Maexxna as a legendary card.

Players who defeat all three bosses in the wing, will also unlock two of the expansion’s class challenges, for both Rogue and Druid. Take on challenges with a pre-made deck that will test your classes strengths and weaknesses, plus being able to challenge yourself even more in a heroic mode.

Each class has their own challenges and they also have their own card rewards:

  • Druid: Poison Seeds (spell) – Destroy all minions and summon 2/2 Treants to replace them.
  • Hunter: Webspinner (minion) – Deathrattle: Draw a random Beast card.
  • Mage: Duplicate (secret) – Secret: When a friendly minion dies, put 2 copies of it in your hand.
  • Paladin: Avenge (secret) – Secret: When one of your minions dies, give a friendly minion +3/+2.
  • Priest: Dark Cultist (minion) – Deathrattle: Give a friendly minion +3 Health.
  • Rogue: Anub’ar Ambusher (minion) – Deathrattle: Return a friendly minion to your hand.
  • Shaman: Reincarnation (spell) – Destroy a minion, then return it to life with full Health.
  • Warlock: Voidcaller (minion) – Deathrattle: Put a Demon from your hand into the battlefield.
  • Warrior: Death’s Bite (weapon) – Deathrattle: Deal 1 damage to all minions.
  • The Legendaries that you will be facing are listed below, and the wing you will encounter them in:

  • Baron Rivendare (Military Quarter): Your minions trigger their Deathrattles twice.
  • Loatheb (Plague Quarter): Battlecry: Enemy spells cost (5) more next turn.
  • Maexxna (Arachnid Quarter): Destroy any minion damaged by this minion.
  • Kel’Thuzad (Frostwyrm Lair): At the end of the turn, summon all friendly minions that died this turn.
  • Stalagg (Construct Quarter): If Feugen also died this game, summon Thaddius.
  • Feugen (Construct Quarter): If Stalagg also died this game, summon Thaddius.
  • Thaddius (Construct Quarter): Summoned when Feugen and Stalagg die. No special abilities of his own, but he has 11 health and 11 attack.
  • Over the next five weeks, the other four wings will be opened up to the public on a weekly basis, and players can buy entry to the other wings for real money or in-game gold. Players will be able to get a single wing will cost $6.99/£4.99 or 700 gold, while there are discounts for buying multiple wings at once, which the overall price of all five wings will come out to be $24.99/£17.49.
