Today, Blizzard revealed Hearthstone’s first expansion of 2022. In Voyage of the Sunken City, players can use 135 new cards to explore the secrets of the sunken city as an intrepid group of explorers on an expedition to the ancient city of Zin-Azshari, lost beneath the waves for over 10,000 years. Voyage of the Sunken City adds a new Naga minion type and brings in two new keywords to Hearthstone, Dredge and Colossal. Voyage of the Sunken City will launch on April 12, 2022.
Nagas were destroyed by their thirst for power and cursed for all eternity. The new minion type will become a permanent addition to the game. The Naga are a spell-focused minion type that tend to give players bonuses for playing one or more spells while the Naga are in their hand. Dredge lets players look at the bottom three cards of their deck and pick one to put on the top. Dredge cards can be combined with new Azsharan cards that send a powerful “Sunken” card to the bottom of a player’s deck. Minions with the Colossal keyword come with extra appendages that synergize with their main body in powerful ways. The appendages are summoned with the main body, even if the Colossal wasn’t played from hand.
13 of the 135 cards in the Voyage to the Sunken City card set have been revealed. The Paladin class sees two new cards, Kotori Lightblade and Shimmering Sunfish. With Kotori Lightblade, players can cast another Holy spell on a friendly minion after it’s been cast on it. Shimmering Sunfish gains Taunt and Divine Shield if you’re holding a Holy Spell. 4 Neutral cards were revealed. These include Sir Finley, Sea Guide, Ambassador Faelin, Blademaster Okani, and Tuskarrr Tawler. The Priset class gets the card Serpent Wig which gives a minion +1/+1. Serpent Wig gets added to your hand if a Naga was played while holding it. Druid gets the Colossal Colaque which becomes immune while controling Colaque’s Shell. Demon Hunter also gets a new Colossal card, Xhilag of the Abyss. At the start of your turn, the damage Xhilag’s Stalks gets increased by 1. Azsharan Sweeper and Spellcoiler get added to the Mage class. Warlock gets Bloodscent Vilefin which has Dredge. If the card that gets dredged is a Murloc, the cost gets changed to Health instead of Mana. Bootstrap Sunkeneer gets added to the Rogue class. The card puts an enemy minion on the bottom of your opponent’s deck.
Players can now pre-purchase for Voyage to the Sunken City. The Mega Bundle gives players 80 Voyage to the Sunken City card packs, 5 Golden Voyage to the Sunken City packs, two random Voyage to the Sunken City Legendary cards, the Queen Azshara Mage hero skin, the Azshara card back, 5 Mercenaries Packs, and Battleground Perks.
