Today, Blizzard has announced and revealed the next expansion coming to Hearthstone, Showdown in the Badlands. In the new expansion, The Bloodrock Mining Company found powerful Azerite in the Badlands. As they’re digging deep and bleeding the land dry, they are disrupting the Badlands and are awakening slumbering elementals. Now, it’s up to mysterious outlaws who are riding into town in order to set things right. As with every new expansion, Showdown in the Badlands brings with it 145 new cards and gameplay changes including two new keywords this time. The new expansion is set to launch next month on November 14.
The Bloodrock Mining Company is led by the corrupt Sheriff Barrelbrim. He’s halting the mining and coerced, cajoled, and conscripted the townsfolk into working the mines; and he has a special spot in the Badlands Jail for anyone who stands in his way. But, an unexpected band of outlaws has come together to take him on. Each of the outlaws are associated with a class. Demon Hunter, Druid, Hunter, Paladin, Priest, and Shaman each have one of these Legendary Outlaws, and they’re led by Elise, Badlands Savior. Since they are use to working alone, as long as there are no duplicates in a deck, each outlaw has special effects.
Alongside the legendary outlaws, Showdown in the Badlands features not one but two new keywords: Quickdraw and Excavate.
Cards with the new Quickdraw keyword get a special bonus if they are played the turn they enter your hand. Players can fire their cards off as soon as they draw them for maximum effect. Cards with the Excavate keyword grant players a treasure when played. Each time a player excavated, a treasure is given from the tier they are currently on, and then they progress to the next tier. The further you dig, the bigger and rarer the treasure gets. The Death Knight, Mage, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior classes are working with the Bloodrock Mining Company so they have a class-specific 4-mana Legendary Excavate treasure that they can get when they excavate for the fourth time.
Players who login now can get the Legendary Minion, Thunderbringer, an elemental beast with a Deathrattle that summons an elemental and a beast from the deck.
