Hearthstone Showcases Showdown In The Badlands At BlizzCon 2023

One of Blizzards cornerstones, pun intended, Hearthstone revealed some exciting news at this years BlizzCon 2023. Cora Georgiou, lead designer of Hearthstone, took the stage at Blizzards premiere event to speak on their new update, Showdown in the Badlands. Before that, the lead designer mentioned that Hearthstone is soon approaching their tenth year, which is an incredible feat as the fanbase remains as passionate as ever. The upcoming expansion is set in the wild west of Azeroth, as the game itself is set in the Warcraft universe.

The expansion promises to bring a plethora of new card to the games already standard 5 rotation of decks. A big focus for the Hearthstone team was finding a way to make getting into the game simpler for unknowing players, and seeing as the game reaches its tenth anniversary in March of next year its very understandable. That’s why the team is introducing catch up packs, which will give the player up to 50 cards instead of the usual 5. But all the cards in said pool of catch up packs will be limited to the last two years of the games lifespan, so new players still wont be able to own early year cards.

Another big surprise came from the earlier implementation of the game mode Battlegrounds back in 2019, the mode quickly became a major part of the game. Now at this years BlizzCon it was revealed that there will now be a co-op version of the made, Battlegrounds duos. The game mode plans to fully launch at the beginning of early next year. Players can expect new content for the foreseeable future as Hearthstone remains one of Blizzard’s big focuses. Check out a roundup of the Hearthstone news in the official Hearthstone twitter below.
