Indie developer 1917 Studios and publisher Valkyrie Initiative has recently launched a new DLC for their game Heads Will Roll: Reforged known as Sins of the Floating City, according to a press release. 

Sins of the Floating City will introduce two new and massive storylines that take place during the Venice-Genoa wars. In one story the player will serve as the Venetian Doge’s right hand, delving straight into the world of dark and complicated European politics. The player’s role is to defend Venice against a coalition of enemies through fighting in a large war or navigating the web of lies, betrayals, and assassinations of European politics to turn rivals against one another.

In the second story line, the player will serve a powerful Italian noble house as a bodyguard to prevent their family from being assassinated, stop the machinations of rival clans, and unravel a web of conspiracies that surround Europe. This storyline enables the player to investigate Venice’s secret societies, blood feuds, and occult rituals.

Both story lines are accompanied by a cast of new characters not present in the base game, including more nobles, mercenary condottieri, and the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire themselves. These characters will be met in diverse backdrops including those of Italy, the Holy Roman Empire (roughly the region of Modern Germany), France, and even the Outremer. Notably, players will also have access to two new romantic interests as they travel across Europe that will change the course of the story.

The base game has also been updated, with the introduction of new weapons, talents, a more balanced in-game system, performance optimizations, and new gameplay mechanics. Players will have access to a greater number of civic talents and a new survival mode even without purchasing the DLC. Italian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese will be added to the game allowing it to expand to a wider demographic.

Sins of the Floating City is set to launch on September 4th, a nod to the fact that this will be the game’s fourth major expansion, eagerly awaited by players.
