Gearbox Publishing and developer Magic Design Studios have announced that their roguelite title, Have Nice Death, will officially be leaving Early Access next year. The title will officially be released on the PC platform, as well as the Nintendo Switch which was a nice surprise for the home console market. The game will be released on March 22, 2023, making it one of the fastest titles to ever get out of Early Access.
The announcement initially for the title coming to the Switch came during Nintendo’s Indie World presentation earlier this week. For those who don’t know, Have a Nice Death is about the titular character, Death, who works for the company, appropriately named Death Inc. You play as Death, who is an overworked employee of his own company where everyone has run rampant and thrown the balance of souls out, all while Death’s vacation plans. The game is a 2D side-scrolling roguelite in which you need to traverse through each level in order to put down the employees who are running rampant. You can also upgrade Death’s abilities, albeit with the consequence being that your enemies are also upgraded with new and enhanced powers.
The game will include all of the content that has been added since its stay in Early Access, and will also have some newer things once it’s fully released. This includes a new world with new enemies and bosses and mini-bosses. It will also have brand new story content which will work as the main point of the ending to the main plot. Players will be able to continue giving feedback while the game is in Early Access, and can also expect “quality of death” updates.
Have a Nice Death will officially release for PC and the Nintendo Switch on March 22, 2023.
