The gacha rhythm game Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! has announced the date for their in-game event with Ensemble Stars!! Music. Set for September 4, 2025, it’s slated to feature new character cards and a new song, as well as more to be announced. As a companion, Ensemble Stars!! Music’s in-game collaboration will be starting today, August 28th, one week before the event begins in Colorful Stage!

Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! is a rhythm game with a gacha aspect developed by Colorful Palette and Sega. Its name in Japan, Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku is the source of the shorthand name used by fans, Proseka. The game features both human characters who are separated into five units, and who are joined by vocaloids, such as Hatsune Miku and the Kagamine twins. Its five year anniversary for the Japan servers is September 20, placing it in the same month as the collaboration.

Ensemble Stars!! Music is also a rhythm game with a gacha aspect, though it is developed by Cacalia Studio and published by Happy Elements K.K as an all boys spin-off from the game Ensemble Girls! Online, fans often use the shorthand of Enstars to discuss the franchise. Characters are split into 43 units when including rotational and temporary units. Also, while Colorful Stage! uses popular vocaloid songs for their rhythm games, Ensemble Stars!! Music uses original songs made for the units.

Both games have animation adaptations and animated films released under the brand names. The most recent release between the two franchises was COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing, which was released January 17, 2025 in Japan and April 17, 2025 in North America. On Rotten Tomatoes’ webpage for the movie, it has a rating of 96% on the Popcornmeter. Ensemble Stars!! has not released any films internationally to date.
