Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Release Only a Few Days Away

Announced earlier via Twitter, the upcoming magical mobile game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unitewill release just few days from now on June 21 in both the US and UK. The game has been in development by Niantic Inc., the makers of similar mobile games like Pokémon Go and IngressLike these games, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is a location-based augmented reality game where players get the opportunity to become a witch or wizard in the fantastic universe of Harry Potter.

A new launch trailer was also dropped following the release announcement, which you can watch below. The trailer features Death Eaters, Dementors, some magical creatures, and even a cameo from Harry Potter himself, who you can see in yet another run-in with a Dementor at the end of the trailer. The game follows the story of wizarding artifacts and creatures making their way into the muggle world in an event called The Calamity. Players across the world will work together to contain all things magic before the inhabitants of the muggle world are tipped off to their existence.

Much like in Pokémon Go, players will interact with in-game objects and creatures using their smartphones through the use of AR. As players traverse their surrounding, the map on their phone will show magical encounters, in which Foundables are being attacked by Confoundable magic, exemplified in the trailer when Harry Potter, the Foundable, is being attacked by the Confoundable Dementor. Players will be able to cast spells, brew potions, and even interact with Portkeys for a more immersive look at some iconic wizarding world locations.

For all those out there, myself included, that are still waiting on their Hogwarts acceptance letter, the wait is extremely short for the next best thing with Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. You can check out the Wizards Unite website for more information. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be available June 21 on iOS and Android.
