Hands on with Luigi’s Mansion 3 At E3 2019

E3 2019 officially opened its doors today! Thousands of fans and game industry members assembled to get a look at the next big games, technology, and merchandise to enter the industry. All the big name titles are here and thankfully we got to get our very own hands own experience with a few of these big name titles.

One title that we’ve had the pleasure of trying out during our first day at the big convention was Nintendo’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Nintendo Switch. The anticipated sequel is a follow up to Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon which released back in 2013 on Nintendo 3DS. The game works well for the Switch and gives it a nostalgic feel.

The gameplay has a fixed camera and players can control Luigi with the left analogue stick while controlling aiming  completely with the right stick. Which may take some players some time to get used to. In addition to the reminiscent style of play as many can expect of course Luigi can stun and trap ghosts and ghouls with his vacuum just as in the previous installments but there are also new features and mechanics in play. Luigi can now slam enemies into the ground after trapping them which causes an area of effect.

Also the vacuum is equipped with a suction shot which allows him to destroy furniture and other obstacles. There is also a burst shot that can give Luigi some room in case he ventures to close to any enemies. The demo was more on the short side but it gave just a enough time to get a feel for the pace of the game and test out the new features. Also in addition to the story there will also be an online and local cooperative multiplayer mode called “ScareScraper,” which will see you fighting ghosts, racing to find toads, and facing new challenges and clearing floors. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is set to release sometime later this year.
