One of the most important games from the Xbox 360 is finally coming to the PC platform. Halo 3 will be officially added as part of the Master Chief Collection next week on July 14 and will be available through both Steam and the Microsoft Store. In addition, it will also be part of the Xbox Games Pass for PC if you’re subscribed to the service. Halo 3 joins the previous chronological entries in the franchise that have already been ported to PC, Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, and Halo 2. This means that there’s only two games left to bring to PC, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4.
Originally released back in 2007, Halo 3 was the finale of the original trilogy, and the first real saga of the main protagonist, Master Chief. One of the most hyped and anticipated releases of the mid-2000s, Halo 3 set the gaming world on fire and was critically acclaimed right out of the gate. It quickly became a must-have for all Xbox 360 owners for both the storyline and the addictive multiplayer. It was also the first game in the series to include the popular Forge mode, which was essentially an intricate create-a-map mode for players.
Halo 3 had a public beta test, known as Public Flight, in early June, and it looks like they got all of the feedback they needed as it’s coming out very soon. Speaking of Halo, Microsoft also recently announced that their Xbox Games Showcase will take place on July 23. They previously had some placeholder weeks for July, but the company officially confirmed it this week. This could also be a potential reveal point for the long-awaited next entry in the series, Halo Infinite. This would be the perfect time to showcase some gameplay, as the Xbox Series X could also release near the end of the year. Until then, there’s the Master Chief Collection on PC to tide us all over.
