The award-winning and the fan-favorite game Half-Life 2 seems to be making a comeback more than fifteen years after its release. On July 29, an announcement was released that confirmed the fan-made Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection was coming to Steam. But, bigger still, the revisions seem to come under the good graces of game developers at Valve.
Half-Life 2 has stood the test of time as one of the most popular and influential video games of its era, and fans are always looking for ways to revitalize the game and keep it a regular name in households across the world. In this case, that burden seemed to be taken up by Filip Victor, a modder who has worked with Valve in the past to bring modifications to Half-Life 2. Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection, as Victor calls it, will feature improved graphics and an enhanced gameplay experience. Victor hasn’t revealed much about the collection yet, but fans speculate it will be available for the base game and Episodes 1 and 2.
This news was brought to fans’ attention nearly a year ago when Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection was spotted on the SteamDB page. However, a recent announcement from Valve reporter Tyler McVicker confirmed that Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection was an official project and that Victor’s work received the consent of Half-Life 2 game developer Valve.
Unfortunately, as of now, fans know little about the upcoming Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection. Victor has yet to declare an official release date and has left much of his personal project a mystery. However, the trailer from IGN shows off some of the enhanced graphics and footage that will be available when Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection finally releases.
