Guilty Gear Strive Sells More Than 500K Copies Worldwide, First DLC Fighter to be Revealed Next Week

It’s been a little more than a month since Arc System Works launched Guilty Gear Strive, the newest entry in their fabled fighting game. The game has definitely made its mark in the fighting game community and has also gone onto be critically acclaimed to boot. Arc System Works has just revealed that the fruits of their labor has brought about immediate success for the game and the franchise. The company has announced that Guilty Gear Strive has sold more than 500 thousand copies world wide. In addition, they’ve also announced that they will be revealing the first official DLC fighter next week on July 20.

Considering how the Guilty Gear franchise used to have a much smaller fanbase in the fighting game community, this is an outstanding achievement for Arc System Works. Over the years the series continued to grow, and now it’s become a stalwart series in fighting game tournaments all around the world. With such an insane growth in numbers, we would not be surprised to see these statistics go up exponentially by the time Summer is over with.

As for the first DLC fighter, speculation has been running rampant in the fan base for the past few weeks. This was mostly due to someone data mining the game and unearthing what might be a possible DLC character list. We won’t post the list here and spoil anything, but there are a few noteworthy entries that would make any Guilty Gear fan excited to see them return to the fold.  It’s also entirely possible that the first fighter is released almost immediately or shortly after they’re announced. Either way, we’re very excited and can’t wait to see who it is.

Guilty Gear Strive is available now for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The first DLC fighter reveal will take place next week on July 20 at 6:00 PM PST on their official YouTube channel.
