After nearly two years of initially announcing that the title would be coming to Steam, ArenaNet is ready to bring Guild Wars 2 to the Steam platform. The developer was planning on having the title available on Steam by the end of 2020, which was put on hold due to specific circumstances that also had to do with the worldwide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Now we have date to look forward to, and it’s next week! Guild Wars 2 will officially be on the Steam platform on August 23, which is also the MMORPG’s 10th-anniversary celebration.
In addition to having the base game, which is completely free by the way, ArenaNet is also giving new players the chance to own the entire experience through what is called the Complete Collection bundle. In this set, you’ll get the main game, as well as the plethora of extra content, as well as all of the expansions up to this point. This also includes the five Living World seasons that connects each expansion with brand new maps and features. This Complete Collection will cost $100, but as we already mentioned the base game is completely free. So you can just enjoy the main game if you don’t want to jump headfirst into the expansions.
On top of all this, the game is celebrating its ten-year anniversary, which will include special Twitch Drops for the first time ever. The even will commence on August 23, the day that the game becomes available on Steam, and end on August 28, the actual anniversary day of the game’s release way back in 2012. Players who choose to participate will earn in-game rewards such as special cosmetics and more experience than usual. Guild Wars 2 will release on Steam next week on August 23.
