Last weekend, multiple PC players of Grand Theft Auto V Online received 30 day bans and/or had their profiles removed, with no chance of appeal. The bans are supposedly linked to the recent Southern San Andreas Super Sports Series update. Many players who received the banning order are claiming that they have done nothing to deserve them.
As one might expect, many of the players receiving bans are claiming their innocence; the GTA Online subreddit is full of players claiming unfair bans and profile removals entirely. The subreddit itself states that certain adjustments to the PC version of the game have caused bug within the game’s anti-cheat system. On top of this, within the Rockstar support thread there are many comments from players that have been banned, or that have gotten their profiles removed all together.
The playtimes for the bans of the players range largely, from ten hours of play to three thousand. Some users on the subreddit also suggests that players who have been affected by the recent bans contact Rockstar through their official social media accounts such as their Facebook or Twitter. Rockstar has not commented on the situation yet, but as of now the reviews for GTA V on Steam are on a rapid decline due to the current dilemma.
One Reddit user states that if you use the word ban or choose the ban category, your support ticket will be auto-closed, so players should try to explain the situation without using that word. Players can also try to raise support tickets to get Rockstars attention.
