GTA V Online will become available tomorrow at some time. Details have been kept under lock-and-key, until yesterday, thanks to Reddit user and TheGTAPlace webmaster Chris.
Chris was apparently invited to New York by Rockstar to participate in GTA Online – likely for last minute feedback and impressions. He was kind enough to answer any-and-all spoiler free questions on his AMA. Below are some of excerpts:
Was there a lot of character customization in the way of clothes,hair styles, tats etc.?
Yeah pretty sure all the clothes shops and tattoo parlours are open from the start, so you can go in to them and buy whatever you want.
What is it like creating your character at the very start? I have heard many rumors that you answer questions which will generate your character is this true?
You choose the appearance of your four grandparents, which in turn generates your own character’s look. You can of course customize this, with options such as your skin color, hairstyle, your age, and various stats.
Could you see every other player on the radar?
Yeah. And anyone playing in passive mode (you can’t kill them) has a line through their radar blip.
What is “passive mode” like?
I didn’t try it, I don’t think you can actually switch to it while you’re on a mission or whatever though, I think you have to be in free roam to enter it. You have some sort of reputation, I don’t remember what it was called. But I think it will go down if you quit matches early and stuff like that. I think R* have measures in place to prevent people from abusing features like that. Also it costs $500 (I think) to enter passive mode.
