Grim Dawn’s Upcoming Expansion Gets a New Trailer

Crate Entertainment’s action RPG Grim Dawn will shortly be getting a new expansion, Ashes of Malmouth. In a trailer released earlier today, the expansion was given a narrowed release window and new information on the included content.

Ashes of Malmouth will bring two new chapters to the Grim Dawn story set in the decaying, bygone city of Malmouth. One in a series of Crate Entertainment’s posts to the Grim Dawn forums offered some background on Malmouth, writing “Once a thriving center of industry in Cairn, Malmouth was one of the first cities to tragically fall during the Grim Dawn. Political intrigue was par for the course in a city that generated vast wealth for the empire, but the game changed with the arrival of an unassuming physician from the capital, Erulan. …Inquisitor Creed and the Legion had believed Malmouth to be a lost cause, completely overrun by the enemy and devoid of survivors, but circumstances are about to change.”

In addition, the expansion will include two new Masteries (classes): the Inquisitor and the Necromancer, which will, in turn, bring over sixty new abilities to the game. Ashes of Malmouth will contain over three hundred unique items, fourteen constellations, a new Illusionist Merchant, and over forty new boss and mini-boss fights.

Grim Dawn is available now for the PC. Though an exact date hasn’t been specified, the expansion will be available in October 2017. Players will be able to pick up Ashes of Malmouth on the Grim Dawn website, Steam, GoG, and the Humble Store for $17.99.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
