Greedfall is a game that is based on 17th-century colonialism and brings the horrors of that practice to the forefront via a plague and the monsters that roam the island which is a large part of the religion that the native population follows. The game was developed by Spiders and published by Focus Home, the game was a solid increase over Spiders’ previous releases, demonstrating that the French studio is growing into a noteworthy name in the RPG space, but the game did fall short of being the new studio that would be filling the void Bioware left behind with the Dragon Age series as Bioware was moving onto the looter shooter Anthem or Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Greedfall did eventually manage to rack up a million in sales, which is a good number for a one-off game that is not in an established universe or apart of a larger brand. With that Spiders is creating a port for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with partnering with Nacon to publish a new expansion for the game. Neither Nacon nor Spiders has given out any details on the upcoming expansion that is coming over with the port to the new generation of consoles. As a part of the partnership with Nacon, Focus Home Interactive will be taking over the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S variant along with the new expansion, and with what sounds like plans to dish out even more new content into the game.
So far Greedfall has one expansion right now which is the Adventurer’s Gear pack containing the preorder bonus weapons and outfit. That pack includes equipment and items that were apart of the pre-order bonus. The success of Greedfall may see the title expand into a larger franchise which would be a first for a property coming out of Spiders.
