Rockstar Games has announced that the next update for Grand Theft Auto V online will introduce weapons trading for players called “Gunrunning.” Although Rockstar didn’t share many details about the update Gunrunning will involve illegal weapons trading and build upon the previous Biker updates as well as the Executives & Other Criminals DLC.
The update aims to give players more ways to earn money for their respective criminal enterprises and is set to arrive in June. Rockstar explains that there are underground locations in Blaine County called “hatches” that players could buy through the Maze Bank Foreclosure site. After purchasing one of these properties players can then turn them into headquarters and stock them with “military grade weaponry, vehicles, and weapons manufacturing equipment.” A few of these hatches will even include target ranges for weapons testing.
“While sharply dressed CEOs trade Special Cargo from lavish air conditioned suites, and leather-clad Bikers own the roadways moving illicit consumer goods,” Rockstar said. “New opportunities are opening in a highly lucrative and equally malicious network hidden underground ripe for takeover by the VIPs, CEOs, and Biker bosses of Los Santos and Blaine County.”
The update will also introduce the ability to weaponize vehicles allowing players to add armor and roof mounted guns. Other features that will be included with the Gunrunning DLC are all new weapons, upgrades, new vehicles (like an amphibious one called the APC), and “full-service Mobile Operation Centers.” Rockstar plans on revealing more details about the update before it’s release.
