Granblue Fantasy: Versus has passed a large milestone of over 1 million units sold worldwide according to a recent announcement from Cygames. Initially released in 2020, Granblue Fantasy: Versus is a 2.5D fighting game developed in collaboration with Arc System Works, based on the titular RPG GranBlue Fantasy.
The title continues to maintain a small but dedicated fanbase, thanks to its unique character designs, gameplay and fantasy setting. Cygames took to Twitter to thank fans on its three-and-a-half-year journey.
“…We’d like to extend a huge thank-you to every skyfarer that’s joined us along the way!” wrote Cygames. “We hope you rise to even greater heights in its sequel GBVSR, releasing Nov 30, 2023!”
Additionally, Cygames announced a celebratory limited-time sale of GranBlue Fantasy Versus and select DLC on the PlayStation Store. The sale is up to 90% off and lasts until August 19, 2023.
This milestone comes at the head of the release of GranBlue Fantasy Versus: Rising, a revamped sequel to GranBlue Fantasy Versus November 30th. The sequel will release in three editions, including a free edition on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
Cygames will reveal more information on GranBlue Fantasy Versus: Rising and its other upcoming RPG in special stream on September 16th via their official YouTube channel. Fans that want to get their hands on the game early can head to the upcoming September open beta test before the game launches. Applications for the pre-access beta are available now. The open beta starts September 28 to September 30.
GranBlue Fantasy Versus is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. For more information and future updates on GranBlue Fantasy Versus and GranBlue Fantasy Versus: Rising, head over to their respective official websites.
