Gone Home Devs At Fullbright Push Tacoma Back Until 2017

Based in portland, Oregon, the independent developers at Fullbright games previously raked in a ton of critical acclaim (plus a cult following) for their 2013 game, Gone Home. The game has since been re-released for major consoles Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Since then, the creative minds at Fullbright have progressed onto their next project_ Initially announced at the Game Awards of 2014, with a later trailer unveiled at E3 last year, the newest installment in their production line takes place in “Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma 200,000 miles from Earth” and is being called Tacoma. The trailer has drawn comparisons to other fantastic sci-fi centered games such as Bioshock or Portal, and was originally projected with a release date of some time 2016.

Sadly, according to an announcement from Fullbright official Tumblr, fans will have to sit on their hands for an entire additional year.

…we need to be responsible about giving the game more space to live up to its potential…We’d originally planned mid-to-late 2016, so we’re giving ourselves an additional 6+ months, to land in Spring 2017. We’re currently polishing up a sample of our newly-minted alterations to the core game into something showable that we’ll be showing the world this coming summer.

When asked for the driving point behind the delays, Fullbright stated in a fan newsletter:

How would gravity really work on a deep-space facility like Tacoma? What are we trying to say about the function and implications of Augmented Reality–and how does the player interact meaningfully with the story content in the game, in a fundamentally different way than anything we’ve worked on before?

While we won’t get our hands on the game this year, we will still receive a further peak at the game this summer! hopefully we will hear another update on this soon.

Given no further delays, we should see Tacoma out for Xbox One and PC in 2017.
