One of the most legendary and influential first person shooters is coming to both the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack and the Xbox Game Pass. Goldeneye 007, the Nintendo 64 classic, will be making its way to the aforementioned online subscriptions services, and it’s coming in just one more day! Goldeneye 007 will be available this Friday, January 27, and will include the exciting campaign, and the even more beloved multiplayer. Nintendo themselves released a special trailer on YouTube to commemorate the occasion, which is filled with the old-school Nintendo 64 gameplay that long time video game fans remember fondly.
The title was rumored to be coming back for the majority of 2022 following a series of leaks early in the year. Nintendo officially confirmed the title during their Nintendo Direct in September 2022, albeit with only release time frame as opposed to a more concrete date. As we already mentioned, we now have that desired day, with Xbox also confirming it on their end as well. Those who have a Nintendo Switch will be able to access the game via the Switch Online Expansion Pack that has the Nintendo 64 library, while those who have an Xbox, or a PC with the Game Pass will be able the game immediately.
It’s important to note that the two versions of the game are not completely identical. The Switch version has something that the Xbox version doesn’t; online multiplayer. This will be the first time that the 26 year old game will have any sort of online component in any capacity, making Xbox users little more than stifled that none of their Microsoft consoles, or their PC, will be able to utilize this very much treasured feature. Still, the Xbox iteration will have some more bells and whistles for an upgraded experience that the Switch won’t include. This includes 16:9 resolution, 4K resolution support, new accessibility options, and even achievements.
Goldeneye 007 will officially launch on Friday, January 27, 2023, for the Switch Online Expansion Pack and Xbox Game Pass.
