The day has finally come. PlayStation and Sony Santa Monica have officially announced the release date for God of War Ragnarok. There was speculation that this would be revealed last week but it appears that those plans changed according to Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog. Over on the PlayStation Blog, Grace Orlady, Sr. Community Manager, Santa Monica Studio, said “God of War Ragnarök is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on November 9, 2022! We’re thrilled be able to share our release date and the brand-new God of War Ragnarök – Father and Son CG Trailer with all the God of War fans who have been eagerly awaiting news. We hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse at some of the dangers Kratos and Atreus could find themselves up against as Ragnarök approaches.”

In addition to the release date and new CGI trailer, the game’s different editions and what will come in them have been revealed. There are 4 editions to choose from: Launch, Standard, Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, and Jötnar.
The Launch Edition comes with includes the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and the Atreus Risen Snow Tunic. The Standard Edition (digital or physical) comes with the full game for either PS4 or PS5. If you purchase the PS4 version, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for $10.
The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with the full game on PS4 and PS5, the Kratos Darkdale Armor, Atreus Darkdale Attire, Darkdale Blades Handles, Darkdale Axe Grip, the official God of War Ragnarök Digital Soundtrack, the Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook, the Avatar Set, and a PlayStation 4 Theme.
The Collector’s and Jötnar Edition comes housed in a beautiful box representing the Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine. This was one of the shrines of the triptychs that Kratos and Atreus came across in God of War (2018), depicting the tale of a powerful seer, the Giant Sorceress called Gróa, who was the first to have a vision of Ragnarök. Both the Collector’s and Jötnar Editions include the digital items in the Digital Deluxe Edition.
The Collector’s Edition includes a printed voucher code for the full game on PS4 and PS5, a Steelbook Display Case (no game disc included), 2″ Vanir Twin Carvings in the same style as Atreus’ wooden toy carvings of the Huldra Brothers from the God of War (2018) Collector’s Edition completing the set, the Dwaren Dice Set with a quality wood-like finish in a dice bag with the symbol of Yggdrasil on the outsidem and a 16″ Mjölnir Replica.
The Jötnar Edition also includes the Steelbook Display Case, the 2″ Vanir Twin Carvings, the 16″ Mjölnir Replica plus a 7-inch Vinyl Record with music by Composer Bear McCreay, The Falcon, Bear, and Wolf Pin Set representing Faye, Kratos, and Atrues, The Legendary Draupnir Ring – a ring from Norse Mythology that comes in a red cloth bag, Brok’s Dice Set featuring a metallic silver finish with blue detailing and the bag which features the Huldra Brothers’ brand, and the Yggdrasil Cloth map showing each of the Nine Realms within the branches and roots of Yggdrasil.
Preorders for God of War Ragnarök begin on July 15, 2022.
