Another major executive is leaving PlayStation. Gio Corsi, the head of global second party games, announced in a Twitter thread that last week was his last st the company. Corsi first joined the company back in 2013 as the senior director of third party production and developer relations before transitioning to his now former position within the company. Corsi has also announced that he will be taking some time away from the video game industry, but assured fans that he will return.
During his time at PlayStation, Corsi became a fan favorite personality. Most notably PlayStation fans loved his enthusiasm for the company’s underrated handheld the PlayStation Vita including a great reception while announcing a plethora of titles coming to the handheld during its twilight years at PSX 2016. Corsi would even show his love for the handheld by signing off his tweet thread about his departure with “long live the Vita!”
It is currently unknown what Corsi plans to do next, but he’s sure to announce that in due time. However, Corsi’s departure follows a string of some notable and high profile departures from PlayStation in the past few years including former PlayStation president Andrew House in 2017 and most recently former Sony Interactive Entertainment Chairman Shawn Layden. Even with so many major departures recently, the PlayStation brand is still doing extremely well. The PlayStation 4 has just become the second best selling home console of all time, and the PlayStation 5 is set to release next holiday season.
