Last month, during their latest State of Play presentation, PlayStation and developer Sucker Punch announced a Ghost of Yōtei focused gameplay deep dive would take place this month. Now, we know when. The Ghost of Yotei State of Play gameplay deep dive will take place later this week on Thursday, July 10, and it will feature 20 minutes of gameplay.

Ghost of Yotei is set in 1600s rural Japan, 300 years after the events of the first game. This time, we follow Atsu, a haunted, lone mercenary thirsty for revenge as she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.

16 years after her family’s death, Atsu’s quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws known as the Yōtei Six: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito; but she finds much more than vengeance.

Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies and greater bonds than she could have imagined.

Sucker Punch’s Creative Directors, Jason Connell and Nate Fox will host the State of Play as they share more about Atsu’s quest for vengeance and show off new weapons, new ways to personalize the player’s journey at the edge of Japan, new special modes, and more.

Ghost of Yotei launches on ctober 2, 2025.
